After 17 long days, the daughter was finally discharged. When Radhika saw the total bill of ₹1,20,000, she felt a strange sense of relief that she hadn't offered her meager ₹5,000. It would have only invited ridicule. Even the sister-in-law was content seeing Radhika’s daily devotion—bringing fresh juices and nursing the child back to health. After ensuring her daughter was safe at her aunt's home, Radhika spent one last night there and then boarded a bus. But a mother’s heart is never satisfied; having seen her daughter, she was now desperate to see her son.

She took a bus toward her in-laws' village. As she stepped off at the bus stand, she pulled a long veil (Ghunghat) over her face to hide her identity. The locals stared, trying to recognize the woman walking with such determined, hurried steps. Avoiding their gaze, she headed straight for her son’s school. It was 3:00 PM, and school ended at 4:30 PM. When the teacher called her son out, the boy couldn't believe his eyes. He ran into his mother's arms, and Radhika, who had been a pillar of strength for weeks, finally broke down and sobbed. Her son, now a mature 12th-grade student, wiped her tears and said, "Mummy, I am fine. Please don't worry about me."

17 दिनों के लंबे संघर्ष के बाद बेटी अस्पताल से डिस्चार्ज हुई। जब कुल बिल 1,20,000 रुपये आया, तो राधिका ने मन ही मन ईश्वर को धन्यवाद दिया कि उसने पैसे नहीं दिए; वरना इतने बड़े खर्च के सामने उसके 5,000 रुपये सिर्फ मजाक बनकर रह जाते। ननद भी राधिका की सेवा देखकर चुप थी। बेटी को ननद के घर छोड़कर राधिका ने बस पकड़ी, लेकिन अब ममता एक नए लालच में थी—अपने बेटे को देखने की तड़प। वह सीधे अपने ससुराल वाले गाँव की ओर निकल पड़ी।

बस स्टैंड पर उतरते ही राधिका ने एक लंबा घूँघट खींच लिया। गाँव के लोग उसे शक भरी और अजीब नजरों से देख रहे थे, उसे पहचानने की कोशिश कर रहे थे। लेकिन राधिका किसी की परवाह किए बिना तेज कदमों से बेटे के स्कूल की ओर बढ़ गई। अभी दोपहर के 3 बजे थे और छुट्टी होने में वक्त था। जब स्कूल की मैडम ने उसके बेटे को बाहर बुलाया, तो माँ को सामने देख वह लड़का दौड़कर उसके गले लग गया। राधिका, जो दुनिया के सामने पत्थर बनी खड़ी थी, बेटे को देखते ही फूट-फूटकर रो पड़ी। लेकिन 12वीं में पढ़ रहे उसके समझदार बेटे ने अपनी माँ के आँसू पोंछे और बड़ी परिपक्वता से कहा, "मम्मी, मैं बिल्कुल ठीक हूँ, आप मेरी फिक्र मत करो।"

निष्कर्ष: राधिका ने अपनी दोनों संतानों को देख लिया था। बेटी को बीमारी से लड़ते देखा और बेटे को अपनी ढाल बनते। उसे एहसास हुआ कि उसका बेटा अब बड़ा और समझदार हो गया है।
