​पर बेटा तो जैसे अपनी नई रफ्तार पकड़ चुका था। वह बोला, "जब से काम शुरू करूंगा, तभी से तो पैसे मिलेंगे ना मम्मी! एक दिन का नुकसान क्यों करूं? और वैसे भी आखिर घर में बैठकर क्या करूंगा? अपने घर में तो टीवी भी नहीं है।"

​राधिका ने कहा, "कंप्यूटर तो है, उसमें कुछ देखना है तो देख ले।"

​बेटा नहीं माना और बोला, "नहीं मम्मी, मैं जा रहा हूँ काम पर।" और उसने अपनी बाइक उठाई और काम के लिए निकल पड़ा।

​राधिका भी भला क्या करती? वह तो दिल से चाहती थी कि पहले उसका बच्चा अपनी पढ़ाई पूरी कर ले और उसके बाद ही कोई काम संभाले। लेकिन वह अपने घर की परिस्थितियों को भी बहुत अच्छी तरह समझ रही थी। उसे पता था कि आज अगर बेटा कमाने लगेगा, तो घर को दो पैसों का सहारा हो जाएगा। इसी समझदारी और मजबूरी के कारण उसने बेटे को ज्यादा जबरदस्ती रोकने की कोशिश नहीं की और उसे मुस्कुराकर विदा कर दिया।
