(About the Author)

The Unspoken Truth
(Mystery & Suspense)
(Fear & Solitude)
(Betrayal & Reality)

Chapter 1: The Shadow in the Attic
The old mansion stood at the edge of the cliff, its windows staring like hollow eyes into the abyss. Kavya stepped inside, the floorboards groaning under her weight as if protesting her arrival. The air smelled of damp earth and forgotten secrets. She held a small brass key in her hand—the only thing her father had left behind before his mysterious disappearance.
As she reached the hallway, she noticed a flickering candle in a room where no one lived. Her heart hammered against her ribs. She pulled out her diary and scribbled a few lines, the ink trembling on the paper:
She pushed the door open. The room was empty, but a rocking chair was still swaying back and forth, as if someone had just stood up from it. On the wall hung a portrait of a woman who looked exactly like Kavya, but her eyes had been scratched out with something sharp.
A cold breeze swept through the room, extinguishing her flashlight. In the pitch-black silence, she heard a faint whisper—a voice she hadn't heard in twenty years.
"Kavya... you shouldn't have come back."
Panicked, she backed away, only to bump into something solid and cold standing right behind her. She turned around, but there was nothing there—only her own reflection in a dusty mirror, looking terrified.
She whispered to the darkness:
The heavy thud of footsteps began to echo from the floor above—the attic. The place where the silver key belonged.

Chapter 2: The Screaming Silence
Kavya’s breath hitched as the footsteps above her grew louder, more rhythmic. Each heavy thud felt like a hammer striking her chest. She climbed the narrow, spiral staircase leading to the attic, her hand trembling as it gripped the banister. The silver key felt ice-cold in her pocket.
Halfway up, she stopped. A thin trail of red liquid—was it ink or something darker?—dripped from the ceiling. She wiped a drop from her cheek and looked at her fingers. She felt a sudden urge to write, to let the fear out on paper.
The attic door was slightly ajar. A pale, flickering light leaked from the gap. When she pushed it open, she didn't find a monster or a ghost. Instead, the room was filled with hundreds of mirrors of all sizes, all angled toward a single chair in the center. On the chair sat an old gramophone, playing a record that had no music—only the sound of someone crying.
Kavya walked toward the center, her image reflected a thousand times over. But in one mirror, the reflection didn't move when she did. Her reflection stayed still, staring at her with a wicked, knowing smile.
Terror gripped her soul. She realized the mirrors weren't showing her the room; they were showing her the past.
Suddenly, all the mirrors cracked at once. The sound was deafening. Through the jagged shards, Kavya saw a shadow moving behind the glass—a shadow wearing her father’s ring.

Chapter 3: The Broken Reflection
English:
The sound of shattering glass echoed through the attic. Kavya froze as she saw the shadow behind the broken shards. It wasn't a stranger; the figure wore the same silver ring her father always wore. But as the shadow stepped into the moonlight, the face remained hidden in darkness.
Kavya felt a chill run down her spine. Was her father still alive, or was this house playing tricks on her mind? She reached into her bag and touched her diary, whispering these lines:
Hindi
English:
The shadow pointed toward an old wooden chest in the corner. "The truth is locked, Kavya," a raspy voice whispered. Before she could move, the candle flickered out, leaving her in absolute darkness. She could hear someone breathing right next to her ear.
Hindi
Chapter 4: The Chest of Secrets
English:
Kavya’s hands trembled as she reached for the silver key in her pocket. The heavy breathing next to her ear had stopped, but the cold presence remained. She knelt before the old wooden chest. With a loud click, the lock opened. Inside, there were no gold coins or jewels. Instead, there was a stack of letters tied with a red ribbon and a small, handheld mirror that glowed with an eerie blue light.
As she touched the mirror, her own reflection began to speak, but it wasn't her voice. It was her father’s voice. "Kavya, the person you are looking for is closer than you think. Look at the shadows, not the faces."
Hindi
English:
Suddenly, the letters in the chest caught fire on their own. The flames were blue, just like the light from the mirror. In the flickering light, Kavya saw the shadow's face for the first time. It wasn't her father. It was someone she saw in the mirror every single day. The person standing behind her was an exact twin she never knew she had.
Hindi
Chapter 5: The Final Mirror (आखिरी आईना)
English:
The girl standing before Kavya was a perfect mirror image, but her eyes were cold and vacant. "I am the part of you that was hidden away," the twin whispered, her voice like dry leaves scraping against stone. "The diary wasn't a gift; it was a warning."
Kavya looked into the blue-lit mirror again. She realized that the 'shadow' she had been chasing wasn't a ghost, but a forgotten memory. Years ago, a secret ritual in the silent valley had split her soul into two—one to live in the light, and the other to guard the darkness in this attic.
Hindi
English:
The twin reached out and touched Kavya’s forehead. Suddenly, the two figures began to merge. The attic started to dissolve, and the mirrors shattered into fine stardust. Kavya felt a surge of pain and then... a terrifying peace.
When the sun rose the next morning, only one girl walked out of the mansion. She picked up the diary from the porch and wrote the final entry. But the handwriting was different—it was the sharp, jagged script of the girl from the attic. She looked at the camera and smiled. The mystery wasn't solved; it had simply taken a new form.
Hindi
